ADJETIVO + ER + THAN
Usamos o adjetivo com a terminação ER + THAN
Veja estes exemplos:
My father is taller than my brother. Neste exemplo, o adjetivo TALL (alto) é adicionado com a terminação ER.
My sister is shorter than my mother. Neste exemplo, o adjetivo SHORT (baixo) é adicionado com a terminação ER.
Michael Schumacher is faster than Fernando Alonso. Adjetivo fast (+ ER) – mais rápido do que.
My house is bigger than yours. A letra G é repetida.
Outros exemplos desta regra:
Mike is fatter than Pete. Fat – consoante + vogal + consoante. A letra T é repetida.
She is sadder than my mother. (sad – triste) – consoante + vogal + consoante.
My house is smaller than hers.
A turtle is slower than a rabbit.
Mike is happier than Peter. – HAPPY
Paul is busier than Mary. – BUSY
MORE + ADJETIVO + THAN
Quando um adjetivo é longo, usamos esta formação na frase – MORE + o adjetivo + THAN.
Peter is more intelligent than Paul.
Sharon is more beautiful than Mary.
A Ferrari is more expensive than a BMW.
China is more polluted than Switzerland.
O que podemos observar? O adjetivo não sofre qualquer alteração – usamos o MORE antes e o THAN depois.
Vamos ver agora os adjetivos irregulares.
ADJETIVOS IRREGULARES
São aqueles onde as terminações são diferentes.
GOOD – BETTER
BAD – WORSE
LITTLE – LESS
MUCH – MORE
FAR – FURTHER / FARTHER
Veja estes exemplos:

I have less money than you.
She has more books than you.
I live farther / further than Mary.
Muito interessante, não é? Vamos ver agora o superlativo.
THE + ADJETIVO + EST
Peter is the tallest in his family.
Mike is the shortest in his classroom.
São Paulo is the largest city in Brazil.
New York is the biggest city in the United States. BIG – CONSOANTE, VOGAL, CONSOANTE
Paul is the fattest person in his family. FAT – CONSOANTE, VOGAL, CONSOANTE

SUPERLATIVO – ADJETIVOS – DUAS OU MAIS SÍLABAS
THE + MOST + ADJETIVO
Coloca-se o THE e o MOST antes.
Veja estes exemplos:
She is the most intelligent person in her family.
Ferrari is the most expensive car in Italy.
This hotel is the most comfortable in my town.

ADJETIVOS IRREGULARES
